L’AFSHAR effortlessly unites the worlds of art, architecture and accessories with its contemporary handcrafted designs, made in Dubai. Luxurious yet industrial, the brand aesthetic is precise and considered defined by modern silhouettes and compact sizes conceptualised to hold the bare necessities. The ambition of the brand is to cater to today’s woman.
Founder and Creative Director Lilian Afshar originally studied to become a ready-to-wear designer. It wasn’t until the presentation of her graduating collection from Esmod in 2013 did she realise the conceptualisation of the signature L’AFSHAR box clutch. An avid believer that a woman needs nothing more than a few essentials to get by, her designs remain compact, contemporary and always ladylike, following the philosophy that less is more. Drawing on her up-bringing as a British-born Iranian who moved around a lot from London, Vancouver, Marbella to Dubai – Lilian’s aesthetic is inspired by her travels and love of art.
In the heart of Dubai’s industrial area, the L’AFSHAR studio, featuring fashion and home collections, resides beside its factory, which was launched in 2019. Here, ideas are conceptualised by the L’Afshar team and brought to life – meticulously crafted by hand through a series of phases with quality control maintained at every turn.
The L’AFSHAR Woman is sophisticated. She is settled in and confident in her sense of style. She does not allow trends to dictate what she wears or how she wears it. She is artistic by nature, investing in seasonless designs that will stand the test of time. She is ageless – the L’AFSHAR Woman’s age has no impact on her sense of fashion and appreciation for good design. In order to maintain a minimal impact on the environment the L’AFSHAR team has made a conscious effort to cut design materials in such a way that we are not left with a surplus of waste but rather additional designs. The team works sensibly to come up with innovative design concepts together that result in maximum output and minimal excess. The goal is to always maintain a low-impact production of consciously designed products. For example, any excess we’ve produced have been used in the small L’AFSHAR STUDIO pieces such as our coasters and cardholders. By thoughtfully designing, our mission is to reduce waste and create timeless pieces that transcend trends and can be handed down and cherished for years to come.
